Sophie Molineux is making sure that she turns up big time for her team in the big game. The final of the Women Premier League (WPL) 2024 is taking place between Delhi Capitals and the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Sophie Molineux has tilted the game in the favour of Royal Challengers Bangalore within one over in the final of the WPL 2024. Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first. They were off the flyer and it seemed that they would post a big total in the summit clash of the tournament.

DC added 64 runs for the opening partnership but Sophie Molineux changed the course of the game in the 8th over. After being hit for 10 runs in the first over that she bowled, she made sure that she produced a magnificent over that put her team in the driver’s seat.

Sophie Molineux first removed Shafali Verma (44) to draw the first blood for his team. She didn’t stop there as one ball later, she struck once again for her team. What caught the attention of many was the ball which she removed Delhi Capitals batter Jemimah Rodrigues.

Sophie Molineux bowled a tossed-up delivery on middle and leg stump. She provided a nice drift in as the ball pitched it away slightly. Jemimah Rodrigues went for the sweep but missed it. The length wasn’t full enough for the shot. The bowler deceived the batter to rattle her stumps.

Jemimah Rodrigues couldn’t trouble the scorers as she bagged a two-ball duck. With her wicket, Delhi Capitals women were reduced to 64/2. With her wicket, the hosts came under immense pressure as RCB took a sigh of relief.

Sophie Molineux damages DC more as he removes Alice Capsey

Sophie Molineux however, didn’t stop there and made sure that she did further damage to her team. On the very next ball after removing Jemimah Rodrigues, she castled the stumps of Alice Capsey to jolt Delhi Capitals women more.

As Sophie Molineux saw Alice Capsey shuffling for a pre-empted lap sweep, she slowed down the pace and got the ball to drift away from Capsey’s shot. The ball rattled into the leg stump to send the batter packing.

Here is the video:

Sophie Molineux delivered a triple-wicket maiden over and spun the web around the Delhi Capitals batters. From being 64/0 to 64/3, they were reduced within the span of just 6 balls. If this was enough, Shreyanka Patil then joined her too as he removed DC skipper Meg Lanning.

Shreyanka Patil bowled an off-break to which Meg Lanning went right back. She was struck in front of off and middle. The ball hit her on her pads. The batter opted for DRS but it showed three reds. The opening batter scored 23 runs off 23 balls as DC was left tottering at 74/4.

Delhi Capitals have been put under tremendous pressure in the ongoing game. After the wicket of Meg Lanning, they lost three more wickets as RCB took the command.
