Finally a bowler has managed to dismiss Steve Smith round the legs as India pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah castled the Australia star on day three of the ongoing Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

For years, Steve Smith has frustrated bowlers around the world with his shuffling tactic that sees him move across and play his shots in any direction he wants. However, he has not been at his best in the ongoing series and nothing describes his poor form than his latest dismissal. The former Australia skipper shuffled across and tried to flick the ball but completely.

Bumrah’s strategy was clear as he was constantly bowling quick on leg-stump to Steve Smith. And the move paid off when the Australia star walked across and was beaten by pace. Steve Smith, who has mastered the art of playing while shuffling across, did not even realise that he was out as he tried to take a single after Rishabh Pant failed to collect the ball.

Even Bumrah was unaware that the bail had fallen off before Ajinkya Rahane showed him the bail lying on the ground. Smith was in shock but had no option apart from walking off the field disappointed.

Here is a clip of the dismissal:

Steve Smith was out for just 8, leaving Australia reeling at 71 for 3. The latest failure means Steve Smith is yet to touch the double-digit mark in the series. His scores in the series so far read – 1, 1*, 0 and 8. At the time of compiling this report, Australia were on 86 for 3, still trailing India’s first innings total by 45 runs.

Earlier in the day, India were all out for 326 after starting the day on 277 for 5. The visitors could add only 49 runs to their overnight score while losing five wickets. Rahane starred with the bat for India with a stunning knock of 112 while Ravindra Jadeja also played a fine knock of 57. The duo also shared a 121-run stand for the sixth wicket to put India on top.
