Cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar couldn’t hold back his excitement after India lifted the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. Sunil Gavaskar broke into childlike dance moves at the Dubai International Stadium, celebrating India's title victory with pure joy on Sunday, March 9.

The Rohit Sharma-led Indian cricket team clinched their third Champions Trophy with a thrilling four-wicket win over New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai. With this win, India became the most successful team in the tournament’s history.

As the Indian players stepped onto the podium to collect their trophy and the iconic ‘white jacket,’ Gavaskar, who was part of the official English commentary team, took the moment to express his happiness. The 75-year-old unleashed the Indian cricket fan in him as he danced his heart out to celebrate India's win in his own style at the Dubai International Stadium.

The former Indian captain’s spontaneous dance quickly went viral on social media, with fans loving his energy and enthusiasm. Star Sports presenter Mayanti Langer was caught off guard by the moment as she moved aside while smiling to give viewers a clearer view of the legend’s celebration.

Meanwhile, fellow panellist Robin Uthappa captured the special moment on his phone. Gavaskar’s heartfelt celebration proved once again that the love for the game never fades, no matter the age. Notably, Gavaskar was earlier seen dancing like a kid after India had defeated Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup group match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).

Star Sports shared Gavaskar’s priceless dance moves on their official media handle, where presenter Jatin Sapru was seen sharing his thoughts by saying, “Who is going to stop Sunny ji today?” To which Harbhajan Singh said, “We shouldn't stop him today because this is a wonderful moment.”

The former Indian spinner added, “It was fun to watch him. He is a legend and a respected cricketer. It was for him that we all started playing cricket. We were fortunate that those trophies were in our hands. And today, he is living that same feeling again.”

India vs New Zealand CT 2025 Final Brief Highlight

Speaking about the final, New Zealand won the toss and opted to bat first against India in Dubai. The Black Caps posted a competitive total of 251/7, thanks to solid half-centuries from Michael Bracewell and Daryl Mitchell. Earlier, Rachin Ravindra provided a strong start in the powerplay, scoring a quick 37 off 29 balls.

But India's spin duo Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy made crucial breakthroughs, picking up two wickets each and not allowing the Kiwis to make a comeback with the bat. Chasing the target, India got off to a flying start with Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill putting together a century partnership.

Rohit led from the front with a superb 76 off 83 balls, earning him the Player of the Match award. Shreyas Iyer (48), KL Rahul (34*), Axar Patel (29), and Hardik Pandya (18) also contributed significantly to ensure India successfully chased down the target with six balls to spare to lift the trophy.
