Mohammed Siraj takes an insane catch

Premier pacer Siraj is not among the best fielders in the Indian team, and despite being one of the fittest, he is not known for producing good chances on the field.

However, the right-arm pacer did the unthinkable on Day 5 of the Edgbaston Test against England and pulled off an absolutely stunning catch.

On the fifth ball of the 64th over, left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja bowled a tossed-up full-length delivery on leg-stump to Josh Tongue, who went forward to flick it.

Tongue was unable to keep the ball down, and Mohammed Siraj, who was at the short mid-wicket, moved to the right in full stretch and grabbed an insane one-handed catch to dismiss the English tailender for 2 runs.

Looking at Mohammed Siraj grab a blinder, India National Cricket Team skipper Shubman Gill was left absolutely stunned.

Credit to him for being able to take a catch - Ebony Rainford-Brent

Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra, former England batter Ebony Rainford-Brent lauded Siraj for taking a stunning catch. Ebony said:

"That is outstanding. It's day five, Mohammed Siraj has been bowling a chunk of overs but he was still in the correct stance, ready to dive like a salmon and catch it. Credit to him for being able to take a catch like that after being stood out there for five days."

Meanwhile, speaking on Sky Sports Cricket's Kumar Sangakkara highlighted how Mohammed Siraj left even his teammates shocked with his catch. He said:

"What a grab from Siraj! He's got the whole team around him and even they couldn't believe it!"

Sangakkara was also impressed with the leadership displayed by Shubman Gill following the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from Test cricket. He said:

"Gill had big shoes to fill with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli retiring. It's been great to see him step up how he has. A century in the first Test and then coming to Edgbaston on a flat pitch and going about his work. Incredible batting, good composure, and some tough decisions."

Meanwhile, speaking about India's dominant victory by 336 runs, the former India National Cricket Team head coach Ravi Shastri said:

"It's a tribute to the character of the boys to bounce back the way they have. The defeat at Leeds was a tough pill to swallow, but this is a game where they have dominated right through with the bat, ball, and in the field. It's a Test match to remember for Gill and India."
