Suryakumar Yadav and Naman Dhir play stunning knocks

Mumbai Indians were invited to bat first in the match by the Delhi Capitals on a slow surface at the Wankhede. MI didn't have an ideal start in the innings, and Rohit Sharma (5), Will Jacks (21), and Ryan Rickelton (25) were dismissed by Mustafizur Rahman, Mukesh Kumar, and Kuldeep Yadav early in the innings.

Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya also got out after playing slow knocks, and the Mumbai Indians were left struggling at 123/5 in 16.3 overs. At that point, it looked like MI would barely touch the 150-run mark as the pitch was assisting bowlers and the batting was getting tough.

However, Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav had other plans. The duo went berserk in the 19th over against Mukesh Kumar and blasted 27 runs, and then smoked Dushmantha Chameera for 21 runs in the 20th over.

With this, the Mumbai Indians collected a stunning 48 runs in the last 12 balls and reached an above-par score of 180/5. Suryakumar Yadav scored a sensational 73* runs off 43 balls while Naman Dhir blasted 24* runs off 8 balls.

This is one innings which I was hoping for a very long time - Suryakumar Yadav

Speaking during the mid-innings break, Suryakumar Yadav said that he wanted to play a longer innings for quite some time and was delighted with his batting performance against the Delhi Capitals, which helped his team register an above-par score. Suryakumar Yadav said:

"This is one innings which I was hoping for a very long time. A difficult situation I go into bat and I try to bat till the end and get a score which is maybe a little above par."

Suryakumar Yadav revealed that the pitch on the offer to bat was quite slow, which made batting a little difficult. He stated:

"(Was batting difficult?) It was a slow wicket with the weather around but we had to dig deep, we talked about that during our practice sessions. We knew that the wicket's going to be like this, so we planned accordingly and that's the same way we batted."

Suryakumar Yadav was further asked about playing the waiting game till the last 2 overs, and he replied:

"Waiting gives you a lot of truths in life, it felt I was good inside. I haven't checked the dew till now, but we thought it's a 160-165 wicket, we've got 15 runs extra, let's see, good game on the hands."
