Virat Kohli, on Saturday (June 22), finally managed to cross the 30-run mark in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The right-handed batsman scored 37 runs in the ongoing Super 8 game between India and Bangladesh.

The former India skipper has been facing criticism for his poor performance with the bat in the ongoing competition and will be hoping that the latest knock gives him some breathing space. Virat Kohli managed to score only 5 runs in 3 games in the group stage.

In the first game against Ireland, he was out for 1 run off 5 balls. It was followed by a 4-run knock against Pakistan before he could not even open his account against the USA. He finally managed to touch the double-digit mark in the previous game Afghanistan, scoring 24.

Just like the previous game against Afghanistan, Virat Kohli got the start against Bangladesh as well and was looking in good touch. However, the India opener could not convert his start into a big score and was dismissed for 37 by Tanzim Hasan Sakib.

In the 9th over, the right-arm pacer clean-bowled Virat Kohli. The veteran batsman danced down the track to play a big shot but Sakib showed remarkable presence of mind as he shortened the length. Kohli failed to make any contact with the ball and was clean-bowled. And as soon as the ball crashed into the stumps, Sakib looked pumped up and gave a subtle send-off to the India star.

Talking about the game, India were on 114 for 4 in the 13th over at the time of writing this report. Rohit Sharma was the first Indian batsman to depart after he was dismissed for 23 by Shakib Al Hasan. Sakib then dismissed Kohli and in-form Suryakumar Yadav in the 9th over to leave India reeling at 77 for 3.

Just like Kohli and Rohit, Rishabh Pant got the start as well but could not convert it into a big score and departed after scoring 36.
