Former Australia opener Matthew Hayden has predicted the winner of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Matthew Hayden celebrated his 53rd birthday on Tuesday, October 29 in a video and talked about the forthcoming India vs Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
India will tour Australia for the five-match Test series next month and will look to defend the title. Notably, Team India has won the last four editions of BGT and the last two Test series during the Australia tour.
The previous Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia took place in 2021 when the Indian team grabbed a historic victory at The Gabba to win the series 2-1. Notably, India had lost the first Test game by 9 wickets but made a fabulous comeback with the help of youngsters like Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar.

Australia is going to win Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25: Matthew Hayden
Speaking in a video shared by Star Sports, Australia legendary batter Matthew Hayden said he feels Australia will win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
"I say Australia is going to win but I'll also say this: Watch Team India go!", Hayden said.
Speaking about the schedule of the games, Matthew Hayden feels Australia will not have any home advantage during the series due to the first three games being played at drop-in pitches.
"I feel like there's less home advantage given the nature of the drop-in wickets than what had been previously there. There are three drop-in venues -- Perth, Adelaide, and the MCG (Melbourne)," the former left-handed batter said.
"So you've got your two home venues in Brisbane and Sydney; those just happen to be the third and fifth Test match, which is a very different combination to any series that's been played there. I feel like at the moment there is probably not that much home advantage in the Australian summer anymore due to the wicket conditions." Matthew Hayden added.

BGT 2024-25 to witness five games from November 22
India and Australia will clash in five Tests during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. The 1st Test begins on November 22 at Perth Stadium. The 5th and final Test will commence on January 3 in Sydney.
Notably, Team India will also play a warm-up match ahead of the 1st Test against India A team. The three-day match will be played from November 15 to 17. Currently, Team India is set to face New Zealand in the 3rd Test in Mumbai from November 1.
India and Australia in close competition in ICC WTC points table
Notably, India and Australia have a narrow competition in the ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 points table. India takes the top spot with a PCT of 62.80. Australia is next in the second spot with a win percentage of 62.50.
India crossed more than 70% win percentage after a clean sweep against Bangladesh in the previous Test series. However, their PCT points suffered after losing back-to-back games to New Zealand in the ongoing series.
Hence, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be a crucial campaign for both teams and the winner will definitely outplay the other in the points table. Australia won the previous ICC WTC final by defeating India.
