Trent Boult ran out in possibly one of the most bizarre and comic fashions during MI New York's narrow three-run defeat against the Texas Super Kings in the second game of the ongoing Major League Cricket 2025 (MLC 2025) at the Oakland Coliseum in California on Friday (June 13).
In a bizarre turn of events during the Major League Cricket 2025 clash, MI New York suffered a dramatic collapse against the Texas Super Kings, with Trent Boult becoming the second victim of a run-out within just 11 deliveries. Earlier, Kieron Pollard suffered a shocking brain fade moment.
Trent Boult’s 'Yes-No-Yes' confusion ends in chaos in Major League Cricket 2025
The MI New York suffered the second run-out shocker in the 19th over when Texas Super Kings seamer Adam Milne bowled a skiddy back-of-a-length delivery on off stump to Tajinder Singh Dhillon (12*), who smartly glided it past the right side of short third man.
It was a simple double, and after getting single, Tajinder Singh Dhillon and Trent Boult sprinted for a second run while Mohammad Mohsin sprinted to his left in the deep and slid in with a fine stop. However, Boult found himself in a bizarre "yes-no-yes" confusion. Initially, the bowler turned back to his crease, then suddenly changed his mind and charged for the second run.

But, in a shocking twist, Boult lost his bat mid-run at the crease. What followed was a complete disaster as the New Zealand pacer danced down on the crease and almost tried to run instead of taking his bat. Meanwhile, Mohsin Khan had already fired in a flat throw to Devon Conway, who had already whipped off the bails before Boult could dive back to the crease.
Boult had to walk back with just 6 runs off 3 balls, including one boundary. His and Pollard’s run-outs raised serious questions about the MI New York team’s match awareness and communication under pressure, as they lost the game to the Texas Super Kings from the winning position.

Texas Super Kings beat MI New York by 3 runs in MLC 2025 thriller
Meanwhile, Texas Super Kings held their nerve to beat MI New York by just 3 runs in a thrilling Major League Cricket 2025 clash at the Oakland Coliseum. Chasing 186, MI New York had a rollercoaster ride, going from 32/3 in the Powerplay to needing 27 from 20 balls with 6 wickets in hand, only to fall short at 182/9 against Texas Super Kings.
Daryl Mitchell’s brilliant final over which was full of yorkers and slower ball,s gave away just 5 runs, denying Tajinder Singh Dhillon and Naveen-ul-Haq the chance to secure the win for the MI New York. Monank Patel (50 off 33) and Michael Bracewell (38 off 21) brought MI back after early blows, but Adam Milne, Noor Ahmad, and a sensational one-handed catch by Faf du Plessis turned the game in favour of TSK.
The real turning point came when Daryl Mitchell’s fielding brilliance ran out Kieron Pollard and Monank Patel off consecutive deliveries after the West Indies all-rounder had smashed 4, 6, 4, and 4 to raise hopes. And then Boult’s run-out handed TSK a memorable win in the MLC 2025 clash.
