SunRisers Hyderabad have broken the 55-run opening stand between Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock by sending back the dangerous-looking Mumbai Indians skipper for a 25-ball 32.
It all happened on the third ball of the seventh over bowled by Vijay Shankar. On a track where a change of pace has proved to be a potent option for bowlers, Vijay Shankar employed the same to brilliant effect and got the better of Rohit Sharma.
Sharma, who had taken the liking to the mid-wicket region, went for another pull shot but with Vijay Shankar offering no pace, the ‘Hitman’ ended up miscuing it to give an easy catch to debutant Virat Singh at deep midwicket.
Rohit’s wicket has come at a crucial time but SunRisers Hyderabad as the Mumbai Indians skipper was looking in ominous touch today.
Sharma was particularly lethal on anything that was pitched short as he smashed the likes of Khaleel Ahmed, Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman with disdainful pull strokes.
Rohit Sharma stroked two fours and as many sixes during his knock and in the process, he leapfrogged MS Dhoni to become the highest six-hitter (217) for India.
