Star India batter Virat Kohli succumbed to another low score during the second Test between India and New Zealand at Pune. Kohli was dismissed for just 1 run by the left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner, which left the whole stadium in shock.

Mitchell Santner was in the middle of a fantastic bowling spell. The experienced left-arm spinner bowled some tight lines to Kohli before the wicket ball. During the 24th over of India's first innings, Santner bowled a flighted ball which landed around the crease.

It was a full toss for Kohli and he looked to put it away through the leg side by playing his traditional shot across the line. However, the legendary India batter missed it completely and was beaten by the flight and dip of the ball.

The ball crashed into his stumps, leaving Kohli in total shock. It was an uncharacteristic miss from Virat Kohli who usually pounces on such balls and views them as a scoring opportunity.

Watch: Virat Kohli gets bowled by Mitchell Santner for another low score

Virat Kohli was left shellshocked after his dismissal and could not believe what just happened. He stood at the crease for some time and even slammed his bat in frustration. The 35-year-old then slowly went back to the dressing room as the whole stadium was stunned in silence.

It was another low score for Virat Kohli, who is going through a rough patch currently. Although he scored 70 in the last match, his overall numbers this Test season have been on the decline.

Meanwhile, it was a tough morning for India after Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal aimed to start the innings safely. Both the batters played their shots, which consisted of a magnificent straight six by Gill off the bowling of Tim Southee,

Shubman Gill's wicket started a collapse

However, Gill also survived a really close lbw call and was saved just by the umpire's call. Gill's luck ran out as he was dismissed off a similar arm ball from Mitchell Santner. This time, the on-field umpire ruled it out.

Virat Kohli was the next wicket to fall which also started India's collapse. Since Shubman Gill's wicket, India lost 7 wickets for just 53 runs as the visitors took control of the game.

Mitchell Santner shines for New Zealand

New Zealand combined some clever spin bowling with some great settings in the field and did not allow the Indian batters to get going. Mitchell Santner was easily the pick of the bowlers as he picked up four out of top seven wickets to fall.

The left-arm spinner varied his pace brilliantly and used the turn on offer to dismantle India's batting order. Santner was not a part of the first Test at Bengaluru but was brought in for Matt Henry in this Test due to the assistance for the spinners.

The decision to play him proved right as he made an immediate impact with the ball, Santner also scored a crucial 33 with the bat earlier during New Zealand's first innings.
