PC: X

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Marco Jansen took an absolutely amazing catch to dismiss the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar batter Virat Kohli in the 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli got out for a score of 1 while playing a pull shot on April 18, 2025. Notably, he had gotten out for the same score of 1 while playing the same pull shot on April 18, 2008, as well.

Arshdeep Singh dismisses Virat Kohli for the second time in IPL

The match between the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings started after a delay of over two hours due to the rain in the city. It has been converted into a 14-over-a-side match, and the timing set for the second innings to end is 11:55 PM.

Being invited to bat first, Royal Challengers Bengaluru openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli tried to play an attacking brand of cricket, and both of them fell to left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh.

Arshdeep Singh dismissed Phil Salt in the opening over of the match, before picking the wicket of Virat Kohli in the 3rd over, thanks to a stunning catch from Marco Jansen.

On the 4th ball of the over, Arshdeep Singh bowled a short delivery to Kohli, who stayed on the front foot and went for a pull shot.

However, he didn't make a good connection with the ball, and it went over the mid-on, where Marco Jansen ran back, kept his eyes on the ball, took the catch brilliantly, and then fell onto the ground.

Virat Kohli walked back after scoring 3-ball 1, and it was the second time that the left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh had dismissed the RCB batter in IPL history.

Cheteshwar Pujara hails RCB and PBKS

Speaking ahead of the RCB vs PBKS match, the veteran India batter Cheteshwar Pujara lauded Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the Punjab Kings, saying that they have built a great unit and are looking like totally different teams this season. He elaborated:

"And look, the way they are playing this year, it looks like even I know they've lost a couple of games at home but it looks like a different RCB team altogether. They approach the way they are starting in the power play with the way Virat is also batting.

"So it seems like they have a proper strategy, they have a game plan which they are sticking to and there are times where you will lose games but it looks like it's a different team altogether. Their bowling line-up is doing well and the pitch is slightly different at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

"We have seen that it's slightly on the slower side. It's not a high-scoring game so far, at least in the last game, but it can change. There you never know. I mean, there's a bit of rain in Bangalore. It has been raining a bit. So the pitch can change a bit but overall I think it will be a good game because Punjab team, they also look like a different team this season. They have got some new faces and it will be a good game tomorrow."
