Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Virat Kohli has got a special gesture from his fans in the ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between the two teams will take place at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Virat Kohli, who recently announced his retirement from Test cricket, will be playing his first game after that. However, to give him farewell, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru fans, since the last few days, have been urging fans to come with Test jerseys to the stadium to celebrate his legacy in Tests.

While there were lots of talks related to this on social media, the fans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru made sure that they stood by what they decided. A larger number of fans turned up with the Test jersey of Kohli for the game against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

The purpose of wearing a white jersey is a tribute to the great man - RCB fan

One of the fans who donned the Test kit said that they want to give Kohli a tribute. He said that he wants the batter to take back his retirement so that they can see him again in the white Test jersey. Speaking to Star Sports, he said:

"The purpose of wearing a white jersey is a tribute to the great man. The number 269 has officially retired from Test cricket. So, all the fans of the RCB fans have decided to wear the jersey as a tribute to Kohli.

"And if I get a chance to meet Virat Kohli, I will say one thing that takes back Test cricket retirement. So we all want to see him in white jerseys again."

Another fan shared his take on the same, saying that they are wearing the white jersey to give Kohli a farewell. He said:

"Today we are giving him tribute for wearing a white jersey, wearing his jersey, Test jersey and giving him farewell."

Virat Kohli called time on his Test career on 12th May

Kohli called time on his Test career on Monday (12th May) through an Instagram post. The right-hander ended up as one of the greats to have played for the India National Cricket Team, as he completely changed the way the team played the format.

Kohli retired from Tests with 9,230 runs at an average of 46.85 in 123 games. He also hit 30 Test tons and 31 fifties.

Coming to his performances in the ongoing IPL 2025, Virat Kohli has been nothing short of exceptional. The opening batter has delivered yet again a magnificent campaign, as he is the leading run-getter for the team and is one of the reasons why they are in the upper half of the table.

Overall, he is 4th on the orange cap table with 505 runs to his name at an average of over 63.
