Shakib Al Hasan, ahead of the second Test against the India National Cricket Team, announced his retirement from Test cricket. The premier all-rounder mentioned that the Test match against South Africa at home in Mirpur will be his last. But also stated that if not allowed to play that game, the Kanpur Test against India will be his last.
Shakib Al Hasan will end his career as the greatest all-rounder to have represented the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. He has made a great impact on the team with both bat and ball. He is the third-highest run-scorer for his team in Test cricket with 4609 runs, including five centuries and 31 half-centuries.
In terms of bowling, Shakib Al Hasan is the leading wicket-taker for Bangladesh in Test cricket. The left-hander has taken 246 wickets and is the only bowler from his nation to go past the 200-wicket mark in Tests. His absence, no doubt, will leave a massive void for the team.
