Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli gave a fiery send-off to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) opener Prabhsimran Singh in the ongoing match of the IPL 2025 on Thursday, May 29.
The Punjab Kings and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru are going head-to-head with each other in Qualifier 1 of IPL 2025 at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar cleans up 'bunny' Prabhsimran Singh
Prabhsimran Singh has been one of the best performers for the Punjab Kings in IPL 2025. He was retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auction, and he has repaid their faith by consistently scoring runs.
Prabhsimran Singh is currently the leading run-getter for PBKS in the ongoing season. He has slammed 517 in 15 matches at an average of 34.47 and a strike rate of 166.23. Also, the young wicketkeeper-batsman has hit four half-centuries.
However, he failed to impress in the match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru and fell 10-ball 18, with two fours and one six. He was trying to play too many shots and got out in the 3rd over.
Premier pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a back-of-a-length delivery to Prabhsimran Singh, who tried to smash the ball, but only managed to get an edge. The ball went straight into the hands of keeper Jitesh Sharma, who made no mistakes behind the stumps. This was the 5th time Bhuvneshwar Kumar had dismissed Prabhsimran Singh in T20 cricket in 9 innings.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was absolutely pumped up after Prabhsimran Singh got out and he aggressively jumped in delight before giving a brutal send-off to the youngster. PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta's reaction was also caught on camera, and she looked dejected.

Shreyas Iyer hails Prabhsimran Singh at the toss
Speaking at the toss, the PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer said that he is optimistic about his team doing well after losing the toss and batting first. He said:
"Yeah, we would have fielded first as well. I have played a lot here but I would be the last person to judge about this surface to be honest (chukles). In a way it's handy to bat first. If you look at the record over here, usually teams have won the game batting first. I am trying to be optimistic and positive at the same time."
Shreyas Iyer further thanked the fans of the Punjab Kings for supporting the team throughout the competition. He stated:
"Yes absolutely. The fans have always been electrifying whenever they have stepped into the stadium. I personally feel that they have been tremendous in energizing the boys in every single game. We need such kind of vibration whenever you enter the ground. It lifts the players and gives them a lot of positivity around."
Shreyas Iyer also lauded the opening duo of Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya for playing with a fearless approach in IPL 2025. He said:
"Absolutely. The way they (Arya & Prabhsimran) have been showing their fearless approach and the attitude has been top notch. We just need to back that. We won't think too much about the past or the future. We will stick to the present. We want to win those small patches and that will give us a lot of momentum in the game. Yeah 1 change. Marco (Jansen) goes out and Azmat (Omarzai) comes in for him."
