After winning the toss, Australia decided to bat first and set a target of 265 runs. India’s chase was anchored by Virat Kohli, who played a crucial knock of 84 runs. Shreyas Iyer added 45, while KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 42 against Australia in the semifinal.
Hardik Pandya provided the finishing touch with a fiery 28-run cameo, which included three powerful sixes. His back-to-back massive sixes off Zampa lifted the spirits of the entire team. On the last ball of the 47th over, Australian leg-spinner pitched it full in the slot, and Hardik wasted no time.

The ball soared 101 meters into the stands, and he didn’t even look at where it landed, and the entire dressing room erupted in joy. Virat Kohli couldn’t control his emotions, as he yelled in Gautam Gambhir’s ear, and even the coach was seen rejoicing in the moment.

Hardik’s 106m six lands in Royal Box as Jay Shah joins the action
Earlier, Hardik Pandya hammered a massive 106-meter six off Tanveer Sangha’s fifth delivery. Hardik Pandya stepped forward, cleared his front leg, and smashed the overpitched ball straight down the ground.
The ball flew high and landed directly inside the Royal Box, where ICC President Jay Shah was seated.
With a smile, the former BCCI secretary picked up the ball and tossed it back onto the field, making it one of the memorable moments of the match in Dubai. When Hardik returned to the dressing room after being dismissed by Nathan Ellis, Kohli gave the all-rounder a warm hug and patted him on the back for his entertaining cameo at the crucial juncture of the match.
Now, India will face the winner of the second semifinal between South Africa and New Zealand in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai on March 9. South Africa and New Zealand will battle it out for the final spot on March 5 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
