India post a total of 249 runs, Shreyas Iyer hits 79, Virat Kohli fails
Virat Kohli, who scored a hundred in the last game against Pakistan, was back in the hut after scoring 11 runs. He batted for 14 balls and managed just two fours. He looked very unusual during his short stay at the crease as he was looking to play the attacking brand of cricket.
However, thankfully, his poor innings didn't cost India much as Shreyas Iyer stood tall for his team when the others failed. The right-hander came up with the magical effort as he slammed 79 runs off 98 balls, slamming 4 fours and 2 sixes.
He was supported well by Axar Patel (42) before Hardik Pandya, in the end, played a valuable innings. The all-rounder played an innings of 45 runs as the India National Cricket Team posted a total of 249 runs on the board. For New Zealand, Matt Henry bagged a fifer.
Varun Chakravarthy takes a fifer to take India home
India were exceptional with the ball as they put New Zealand National Cricket Team batters under pressure right from the start. Hardik Pandya drew the first blood for his team as he removed Rachin Ravindra, and after that, spinners Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy took the command.
Varun Chakravarthy stole the limelight with his fifer while Kuldeep Yadav bagged two wickets. The rest of the bowlers, barring Mohammed Shami, picked one wicket each as the India National Cricket Team bundled out the New Zealand National Cricket Team for 205 runs to win the game by 44 runs.
India National Cricket Team ended the group stage undefeated, winning all three games. They will now be locking horns with the Australia National Cricket Team in the semi-final of the ICC Champions Trophy on Tuesday (4th March) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
