Indian cricket team superstar Virat Kohli arrived in Colombo on Monday, July 29, to prepare for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. Kohli received a warm welcome from Sri Lankan airport staff and enthusiastic fans at the Colombo airport.

Some fans seized the opportunity to take photos with one of the modern-era legends at the airport. Kohli had a delightful interaction with fans, smiling and posing for pictures as he waited at the check-in counter at the Colombo airport.

He was seen wearing white and black clothes along with his luggage. At that time, an older fan also asked Kohli for a selfie, and he agreed with a broad smile and even shook hands with a young fan.

Now, the clip of Kohli’s heartwarming act is all over social media, with the fans applauding the former Indian skipper for his gentleness, as he was having a long journey from London to Sri Lanka.

Kohli returned to national duty after spending quality time with his family in London after winning the T20 World Cup 2024 in Barbados last month. He also retired from T20I cricket after India's triumph in the 2024 T20 World Cup, and now he is concentrating on ODIs and Tests.

Meanwhile, Indian captain Rohit Sharma, along with KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Kuldeep Yadav, and Harshit Rana, had arrived in Colombo on Sunday, July 28. India’s ODI squad has already settled into the ITC Ratnadipa Hotel in the Sri Lankan capital as they gear up for the upcoming series.

Well, Kohli and Rohit are set to begin their practice sessions in Colombo to prepare for the ODI series. It is being said that the ODI team has started training under the assistant coach Abhishek Nayar in Colombo.

Notably, both Indian stalwarts are making their return to ODI cricket after a hiatus since the 2023 ODI World Cup at home and will be eager to find their rhythm ahead of the upcoming Champions Trophy 2025.

Kohli and Rohit both have impressive records against Sri Lanka in ODIs and will aim to enhance them during the upcoming three-match ODI series, which will start on August 2 in Colombo, with all three matches taking place at the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium. The second ODI is scheduled for August 4, and the series will wrap up on August 7 in Colombo.
