Amidst the excitement surrounding the third and final Test between India and New Zealand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, a unique scene unfolded that caught the attention of fans and commentators, and the reason behind this was Washington Sundar.
Actually, the Indian all-rounder Washington Sundar was spotted wearing jerseys belonging to his teammates, Dhruv Jurel and Axar Patel, instead of his own, on Day 1 of the ongoing third and final Test at the Wankhede Stadium on November 1.

The reason behind this incident was the sweltering Mumbai heat, which made conditions particularly challenging for the players from both teams—India and New Zealand. Many New Zealand players were seen putting ice towels on their heads and bodies and desperate for water in Mumbai.
With soaring temperatures and high humidity in Mumbai, every movement on the field became a test of endurance, but the players have been giving their best to entertain the Wankhede Stadium crowd. However, Sundar’s move to deal with the heat and humidity grabbed more attention.
Throughout Day 1 of the ongoing third and final Test match at the Wankhede Stadium, Sundar struggled with the cruel weather, leading to a significant amount of sweating. He was sweating a lot, and at one point, even his jerseys were also finished.
And due to this, the Indian off-spinner had to use his teammates’ jerseys during the ongoing Test match against the Kiwis. At one point, Sundar was seen wearing Dhruv Jurel's jersey, and later, during the post-tea session, he switched to Axar Patel's jersey in the ongoing Mumbai Test.

Meanwhile, Washington Sundar continued to make life difficult for New Zealand's top batsman, Rachin Ravindra. He dismissed Ravindra for the third consecutive time in the ongoing Test series.
In the first innings of the ongoing third Test in Mumbai, Sundar delivered a sharply turning ball that slipped past Ravindra's bat and crashed into the stumps, dismissing him for just five runs.
He would have been close to Washington, DC: Ravi Shastri trolls Washington Sundar
Well, the Indian bowlers faced challenges with their front-foot placements at the Wankhede Stadium, leading to a total of eight no-balls by the middle of the second session. Sundar accounted for five no-balls, while both Ravindra Jadeja and Akash Deep contributed three more.
Just after lunch, Sundar's fifth no-ball triggered a warning from the Wankhede Stadium's system, which prompted the commentator and former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri to speculate on how Sunil Gavaskar would react to this lack of discipline in their bowling.
Shastri said on-air: “Sunil Gavaskar was having lunch. He chucked the plate on the wall. Thank God he’s not fielding in the slip; otherwise, Washington would have been close to Washington, DC.”
Notably, Sundar had a great outing with the ball in the ongoing Mumbai Test. He bowled two maiden overs and scalped four wickets while giving away 81 runs in 18.4 overs against New Zealand. He and Ravindra Jadeja’s five-wicket haul helped India restrict New Zealand to 235 runs in the first inning.
