Rohit Sharma's poor run in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) continued as he was out for just 17 runs in the ongoing match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede Stadium.
After missing the last game against Lucknow Super Giants due to a knee niggle, Rohit Sharma returned to the Mumbai Indians Playing XI for the ongoing contest. With Mumbai Indians chasing a huge total of 222 runs, the onus was on the former captain to give his team a good start with the bat.
Rohit Sharma started his knock on a positive note, hitting his India teammate Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a six in the very first over. In the second over, he hit Yash Dayal for back-to-back fours before the left-arm pacer castled him with an absolute beauty.

Dayal started his over with a dot delivery before Rohit Sharma hit the second and third deliveries for fours. However, the RCB pacer had the last laugh as he dismissed the veteran batsman on the fourth ball of the over.
The ball pitched around the middle stump before swinging in sharply and beating Rohit Sharma's drive. The ball went on to crash into the leg stump. While Rohit would have loved to score big in the match, there was very little he could have done against such a stunning delivery.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians were on 52/2 after 5 overs at the time of writing this report with Will Jacks and Suryakumar Yadav batting in the middle. After Rohit's departure, Josh Hazlewood dismissed Ryan Rickelton for 17 to reduce Mumbai to 38 for 2.
Earlier in the match, fifties from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar helped RCB post a daunting total of 221/5. Kohli scored 67 while Patidar scored 64. Jitesh Sharma also played a crucial knock of 40 not out off just 19 balls.
Rohit Sharma's poor run:
Rohit Sharma's performance in the ongoing IPL 2025 has been disappointing, to say the least. The India captain began his campaign with a duck against Chennai Super Kings before registering knocks of 8 and 13 against Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively.
He will be desperate to regain his best form and play some match-winning knocks for Mumbai Indians as the five-time champions look to revive their campaign.
