Yash Thakur delivered a fiery spell of fast bowling in the ongoing Irani Cup 2025 between Vidarbha and the Rest of India that left fans buzzing on social media. Vidarbha fast bowler Yash Thakur’s sensational yorker to dismiss Rest of India batter Saransh Jain has proved why he is one of the most lethal young pacers in the domestic circuit.

The young bowler’s plan for Saransh Jain was a masterclass in tactical bowling. Yash first kept the rest of the India batter guessing with a barrage of short-pitched deliveries, pushing him onto the back foot and forcing him into a defensive shell at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur.

Jain’s wicket triggered a dramatic collapse for the Rest of India side. They crumbled under pressure, losing their last five wickets for just 62 runs. Thakur led the charge with his relentless pace and precision, finishing with an impressive four-wicket haul to help Vidarbha bundle the Rest of India out for 214 runs, giving Vidarbha a commanding 224-run lead in the Irani Cup 2025.

Captain Rajat Patidar was the only batter to fight back and played a solid knock of 66 runs, but once he got out, the rest of the team collapsed quickly. Apart from Yash, Harsh Dubey and Parth Rekhade picked up two wickets each, while Darshan Nalkande and Aditya Thakare got one wicket each.

Vidarbha eyes Iran Cup glory after six years

Their combined efforts helped Vidarbha take a big lead. However, they have already lost their openers, Atharva Taide (15) and Aman Mokhade (37), cheaply against the Rest of India on Day 3. Dhruv Shorey (24*) and Danish Malewar (16*) will resume the play on Day 4 in Nagpur.

Now, Vidarbha would be hoping to extend the lead to have the upper hand in the match against the Rest of India at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. Notably, Mumbai had won the Irani Cup last year, while Vidarbha had won the trophy last time in 2018-19.
