Watch: "You can't play like me" - Rohit Sharma's no-nonsense batting advice to Abdul Samad

Mumbai Indians batter Rohit Sharma was seen giving some batting tips to the Lucknow Super Giants batter Abdul Samad ahead of the clash between the teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The match between the two teams is all set to take place at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday (27th April).

Rohit Sharma is having a decent time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After having a tough start to the season, the Mumbai Indians batter made a strong comeback as he slammed two back-to-back half-centuries and helped his team get back on track after losing a few games early on.

Rohit Sharma, who is known as one of the biggest Indian players, has also been passing on his inputs to the various young players in the league. This has been evident since the time the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 started. Ahead of the games and after the games, he has been interacting with young guns.

Some things don’t work without technique - Rohit Sharma to Abdul Samad

Ahead of the game against Lucknow Super Giants, Rohit Sharma was seen interacting with Abdul Samad. The senior batter was seen explaining to the young batter how to hit sixes. He was heard saying how pitches play a role. Speaking in a video posted by Lucknow Super Giants, he said:

“Hit it either off this leg or off that leg. You know why I’m saying this, it’s because every wicket has a pace. It’s different everyday, today the humidity is more so there will be moisture, if it’s less humid and more windy then the pitch is better to bat on. You won’t get that knowledge until the match starts.”

Rohit was also seen telling the young batter should use his own talent and technique, saying that some things don't work without technique. He elaborated:

"Whatever ability you have, whatever talent, whatever technique, some things don’t work without technique, let’s accept that,” said Rohit.

Rohit was further seen explaining to the batter not to copy him as it wouldn't do justice to his talent. He said that if he tries to copy someone, then his entire life will pass in that. He added:

“Tu mere jaisa nahin khel sakta, mein tere jaisa nahin khel sakta. Tera apna ek talent hai (You can’t play like me, I can’t play like you, you have your own talent,)" he added. "If I go to copy you or you try to copy me, or if I go to copy his technique or his technique, life will pass by in that time.”
