Legendary India allrounder Yuvraj Singh was always known for his exceptional fielding during his playing days for his country. During the opening match of the International Masters League 2025, Yuvraj showed that he still got it and rolled back the years with a stunning catch.
Yuvraj Singh was stationed at long-on as Irfan Pathan was bowling the eighth over of Sri Lanka's innings. In the third ball of the over, batter Lahiru Thirimanne tried to launch a short-of-a-length delivery from Pathan over the long-on boundary.
However, he didn't get much elevation and it created a chance for Yuvraj at long-on. The former India cricketer jumped perfectly in the air to take a stunning catch over his head before diving to complete the catch.

It was a sensational catch from Yuvraj Singh who was mobbed by his teammates as they congratulated him for the catch. It was the big wicket of Lahiru Thirimanne who was looking at ease. He was dismissed for 24 off 17 balls with 3 fours and 1 six.
Sri Lanka Masters fall just short
The catch was also vital in breaking a strong partnership for the second wicket between Lahiru Thirimanne and the captain Kumar Sangakkara. The duo collected 61 runs together in just six overs. It was also Irfan Pathan's first wicket of the match, who finished with figures of 3-39 in 4 overs.
Sri Lanka got off to a poor start as Upul Tharanga was dismissed early. But Sangakkara and Thirimanne resurrected the innings and also ensured that the run rate didn't fall. After Thirimanne, skipper Sangakkara also fell for a well-made 51 off 31 balls, which included 8 fours and 1 six.
Pathan had already dismissed both Sangakkara and Thirimanne but didn't stop here as he created a hat-trick chance by picking up the wicket of Chaturanga de Silva for a golden duck.
Allrounder Jeevan Mendis struck a fiery 42 off 17 balls lower down the order to keep Sri Lanka in the run-chase. He struck 3 fours and 2 sixes in his knock. Isuru Udana too smashed 23 off 7 balls but Sri Lanka fell 4 runs short of India's total and lost an agonisingly close encounter.
India Masters put in a formidable score
Earlier in the day, India Masters were put into bat by Sri Lanka Masters. They lost both their openers Ambati Rayudu and Sachin Tendulkar early but Gurkeerat Singh and Stuart Binny put India back on track.
Gurkeerat struck 44 off 32 balls while Binny smashed 68 off just 31 balls. Binny hit 3 fours and 7 sixes during his knock at Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai. Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan provided a late impetus with a flurry of big hits towards the end.
Yuvraj Singh finished unbeaten on 31 off 22 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. On the other hand, Pathan struck 56 off just 22 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes to take India to a challenging score of 222-4 in 20 overs.
