Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, Dhanashree Verma, have officially divorced, and the proceedings took place at the Bandra High Court, where both were present. However, what caught the public’s attention was Chahal’s T-shirt, which had the statement "Be Your Own Sugar Daddy" printed on it.
Chahal and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020 but separated in June 2022. On February 5, they filed a joint petition for divorce by mutual consent. However, under Section 13B(2) of the Hindu Marriage Act, a family court can only consider such a plea after a mandatory six-month waiting period.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma arrived separately for their divorce proceedings at Bandra High Court. Dhanashree opted for a simple look in a white t-shirt and jeans, while Chahal wore a black t-shirt with the bold statement, “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.”
The Indian cricketer initially wore a hoodie and later revealed the message on his t-shirt as he left the court, sparking widespread speculation and discussion among fans. His choice of attire quickly went viral, with many interpreting it as a subtle message regarding his separation.

Yuzvendra Chahal to Pay ₹4.75 Crore in Alimony to Dhanashree Verma
Yuzvendra Chahal will pay ₹4.75 crore as alimony to Dhanashree Verma as part of their divorce settlement. Reports indicate that the 34-year-old has already paid ₹2.37 crore, with the remaining amount to be paid after the finalization of the divorce.
Earlier, it was reported that Dhanashree had sought ₹60 crore, but official documents confirmed the settled amount at ₹4.75 crore. The Bombay High Court granted an exemption from the mandatory six-month cooling-off period under the Hindu Marriage Act, fast-tracking their mutual consent divorce.
However, the court considered the partial payment of alimony as non-compliance, which influenced its decision to deny Chahal’s plea for the waiver.
Yuzvendra Chahal Set to Play for Punjab Kings in IPL 2025
Yuzvendra Chahal will represent Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after being acquired for ₹18 crore at the player auction. The leg-spinner played with Rajasthan Royals in the last season. He is the Jaipur franchise's second-highest wicket-taker with 66 dismissals, just behind Shane Watson.
Chahal holds the record for the most wickets in IPL history, being the only bowler to surpass 200 wickets. However, he was not retained by the franchise.
The Indian cricketer became the fifth-most expensive player in the 2025 auction. The team, led by IPL 2024-winning captain Shreyas Iyer, will begin their campaign against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Tuesday, March 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
