An entertaining match concluded at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Saturday as the Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals (GT vs RR) engaged in a fierce battle for the match number 9 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026). The match was filled with multiple exciting moments. It was a seesaw ride until the Gujarat Titans suffered multiple-wicket losses in the middle.

Ahead of today's match, the Gujarat Titans sustained a sudden setback as their regular captain, Shubman Gill, was ruled out of the contest due to injury. During the toss, stand-in captain Rashid Khan informed that Gill was ruled out of the match because of a muscle spasm. Without Gill in the batting order, the Titans' batting order looked not strong enough to chase the challenge target of 211.

Thrilling match between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals

Batting first, the Rajasthan Royals registered 210 runs in exchange for 6 wickets. Dhurv Jurel, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were the difference makers with the bat for the Rajasthan Royals. Apart from a few moments of individual brilliance, the bowling department of Gujarat had a better-to-forget outing tonight.

The delivery of Kagiso Rabada, which knocked down the off stump of Yashasvi Jaiswal, was brilliant; the flying catch taken by Mohammed Siraj in the deep was outstanding. These are two main highlights from the first innings from the GT's side. The first innings was mostly enjoyable because of Jurel's 75, Jaiswal's 55, and Sooryavanshi's 31.

Massive achivement for Ravi Bishnoi

For Gujarat, Sai Sudharsan played his part well as a proven opener of the format, scoring 73 off 44. But he lacked the support from the other members of the team. RR spinner Ravi Bishnoi, who came to bowl as an impact bowler, turned into the wrecker-in-chief with his spin bowling skill set.

He took 4 wickets in 4 overs in exchange for 41 runs, and completed the 200th T20 career wicket as well. Gujarat Titans tried well, but fell short by only 6 runs, scoring 204 for 8 against Rajasthan Royals' 210.

Rashid Khan explained their defeat vs Rajasthan Royals

Rashid Khan "Well, I think, we bowled really well, especially the way they have started to restrict them under like, 210. I think it was a great effort on this wicket by the bowlers. And then we started really well with the bat too. I felt we had given a great start with the openers."

"And then I felt in the 12th and 13th overs, we lost back-to-back wickets," the stand-in captain of Gujarat Titans, Rashid Khan said after the match.

Rashid Khan further stated, "That's something which really put us on the back foot. But I think, if they were there, it wasn't that hard to score, but I think in that period of time, we just lost the momentum of the game. Well, I feel, on the wicket like this, 9-10 per over, it's not a hard job to be done."

"And I feel like we just, a little bit like you lose the momentum in that time and go harder a little bit for a longer period of time. And the boundaries were coming. I think on this wicket, boundaries were coming easily," Rashid Khan added.
