Team India assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate has showered praise on England captain Ben Stokes for bowling long spells on the final day of the third Test match at Lord's. Ten Doeschate also refused to compare Stokes’ super impressive performance with Jasprit Bumrah's workload management.

Ben Stokes bowled 44 overs across both innings and took five wickets in the third Test at Lord’s. He delivered a 9.2-over spell on the final morning. The skipper was instrumental in England’s narrow 22-run victory over India. Stokes silenced doubts about his fitness and workload, prioritizing the team over future concerns.

That Was Super Impressive for Ben Stokes to Come Out - Ryan ten Doeschate

During the press conference, Ryan ten Doeschate was asked to compare Ben Stokes’ long bowling spells with Jasprit Bumrah’s workload management. Ten Doeschate added that Bumrah is most effective in shorter spells without being overburdened, which benefits the team.

"That was super impressive for Ben to come out on their last day and bowl the amount of overs he did with the intensity he did, and obviously bats and fields as well. We're not here to compare our bowlers to individuals from other teams," ten Doeschate said.

"We have our own strengths. We know what Jasprit particularly does in spells, in shorter spells, which he prefers bowling in," he added.

We Use Jasprit Bumrah in the Best Way for the Team - Ryan ten Doeschate

Ben Stokes has battled injuries throughout his career, including a recent hamstring surgery in January. Ryan ten Doeschate backed the Indian team's strategy amid comparisons between Stokes and Bumrah.

The coach stated that not all bowlers operate the same way. He added that their approach is tailored to serve the team’s best interests.

"And when the time's right, and what I alluded about Siraj, some bowlers are like that. You get the best out of them in their seventh, eighth and ninth over, but not everyone has to be the same as that. And we feel that in consultation with Jasprit, how we use him is the best way for the team," ten Doeschate said.

India Considering Jasprit Bumrah's Inclusion for Crucial Fourth Test

India are considering including Jasprit Bumrah in the playing XI for the crucial fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, as they aim to level the five-match series. The visiting team is currently trailing 1-2 after losing matches at Headingley and Lord’s.

Bumrah has been in excellent form, taking 12 wickets from just two Tests at an average of 21. He picked up five-wicket hauls in both matches. The pacer recorded figures of 5/83 at Headingley and 5/74 at Lord’s.

However, India lost both Tests with Bumrah. In contrast, they registered a dominant 336-run victory at Edgbaston - the only match Bumrah was rested for. Only Mohammed Siraj (13 wickets) has taken more wickets than Bumrah in the series so far.
