Months after India lifted the Asia Cup title, the Mohsin Naqvi-BCCI controversy is still not over. Even after defeating Pakistan in the final and becoming champions, the India National Cricket Team has still not received the Asia Cup trophy, and the issue has once again flared up with the BCCI.
The BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla revealed that the board has repeatedly requested the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to hand over the trophy, but there has been no response from the chairman Mohsin Naqvi and other board officials.

The controversy began after the Asia Cup 2025 final in Dubai, where India defeated Pakistan to win the title. During the presentation ceremony, the Indian team refused to take the trophy from the ACC chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who is also serving as both the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan's Interior Minister in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack in 2025.
They requested that another ACC official perform the ceremony, but Naqvi refused, and the presentation did not happen as expected. Later, Naqvi left the Dubai International Stadium with it, leading to a major controversy after the final. It is being said that the trophy is being kept in the ACC headquarters in Dubai.

Now, Rajeev Shukla revealed that India has still not officially received the Asia Cup trophy despite being crowned champion. However, the BCCI Vice-President made it clear that the entire cricket world knows that India won the tournament, and they remain the champion even if they have not yet got the trophy.
Rajeev Shukla was quoted as saying by PTI: “As far as the Asia Cup Trophy is concerned, we have requested the Asian Cricket Council chairman and directors to hand over the trophy. But there has been no response yet. We have spoken to them, but what difference does it make if we don't hand over the trophy? The world knows that we have won there. But we have not received the trophy yet. We are trying to get it. We have won.”

Meanwhile, Shukla also backed the India national cricket team after its disappointing performances in the ongoing five-match T20I series against England. Despite a series of embarrassing defeats in Ireland and England, he expressed confidence that the team has enough talent to make a strong comeback in the remaining games.
He also backed India to whitewash England in the ODI series. The BCCI vice-president added, “There are two matches left in the series. I think our team will do very well. Our team has a lot of talent. Our team is in form. It doesn't matter if we lose one or two matches. We will do well in the future. After T20I matches, there are three ODIs. I think we will win in all of them.”

He also spoke about teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, saying a couple of poor performances should not define his career. Shukla believes the youngster has immense talent, and that’s why he earned a place in the national team.
Shukla signed off by saying, “He is a very talented player. I hope his performance will be good. He made a mistake that day. He has the potential, and that is why he has got a chance. He is now in the Indian team. So, you will see that the matches in the future.”
