West Indies Announce T20I Squad For Last 2 Matches vs Australia; 2 Changes In The Squad

The Cricket West Indies Selection Panel has made two changes in the squad for the last two T20I matches, which will also be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Stadium (DSCG) in St. Lucia. Shimron Hetmyer and Obed McCoy have been left out due to minor injuries in the 14-man squad announced for the fourth and fifth matches of the T20 International (T20I) series against Australia.

West Indies already have won the series by taking a 3-0 unassailable lead over Australia in the five-T20I series. The Nicholas Pooran-led side pocketed the series with a six-wicket victory on Monday night, after a superb win by 18 runs last Friday night followed by an impressive 56-run triumph on Saturday night.

“The team has played really well to win the first three matches and the CG Insurance Series – they have played good cricket in every department. The aim is to continue to build on the momentum created and strive to win the remaining games. Winning builds confidence from a team perspective and will give the players greater belief in the roles they are playing. So, it is important to keep winning. We took the decision to rest players who have picked up some niggles and give opportunities to other players in the squad,” Roger Harper, Lead Selector said.

The 4th T20I will be played on 15th July 2021 and the fifth and the last T20I will take place on 17th July 2021. The two teams will then face-off in a 3-match ODI series starting July 21 with all matches taking place in Bridgetown, Guyana.

West Indies squad for last 2 T20Is against Australia: Kieron Pollard (Captain), Nicholas Pooran (Vice-Captain), Fabian Allen, Dwayne Bravo, Sheldon Cottrell, Akeal Hosein, Andre Fletcher, Chris Gayle, Kevin Sinclair, Evin Lewis, Andre Russell, Lendl Simmons, Oshane Thomas, Hayden Walsh Jr.
