The West Indies Women's National Cricket Team will be traveling to India for a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series. Stafanie Taylor ruled out of India series, Deandra Dottin returns

West Indies Women's National Cricket Team are currently ranked 6th in ICC T20I and ODI Rankings and the series against India is expected to be a challenging one for them.

They will be playing the matches against India without their star all-rounder Stafanie Taylor, who has been ruled out with an injury. Notably, she is currently undergoing her rehabilitation program and will not get fit in time for the India series.

Meanwhile, Deandra Dottin will be making her comeback to ODI cricket in the series against India. She just recently made her international cricket return from a retirement in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Meanwhile, the squad of the Maroon Warriors also saw the return of pacer Shabika Gajnabi and wicketkeeper-batter Rashada Williams. Notably, the duo were not part of the T20 World Cup squad of the side.

We want to take the good momentum we gained at the T20 World Cup - Shane Deitz

In an official media release, the West Indies Women's Head Coach Shane Deitz said that they want to continue performing well in international cricket following their recent success at the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024. Shane said:

“We want to take the good momentum we gained at the T20 World Cup into this series. We showed that we can compete against the top teams which was pleasing.”

Shane further said that there have been a lot of improvements in the team across all the areas, but still, there are things that can be done better.

“Since I've taken over, I've seen improvements in all areas, but we still have a long way to go. The consistency of high-level performance is what we need to keep working towards and this is a good opportunity to play six matches against one of the best teams in the world," he added.

“We want to get more girls involved with franchise cricket moving forward and looking toward India, it's always good to play in front of the Indian IPL teams. It is good for our ladies to start getting their names in front of those people, to hopefully open some opportunities in the future.”
