Former India Under-19 cricketer Shreevats Goswami has indirectly taken a dig at cricketers congratulating Virat Kohli for becoming a father for the second time. The India batting superstar and his wife Anushka Sharma have announced the birth of their second child – son Akaay.

They became parents for the first time in 2021 when Anushka gave birth to a daughter Vamika. On Tuesday, February 20), Virat Kohli took to social media to announce the news and revealed that his son was born on February 15.

“With abundant happiness and our hearts full of love, we are pleased to inform everyone that on 15th February, we welcomed our baby boy Akaay and Vamika’s little brother into this world! We seek your blessings and good wishes in this beautiful time in our lives. We request you to kindly respect our privacy at this time. Love and gratitude – Virat and Anushka,” read the post from the former India skipper.

Virat Kohli’s posts on X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram have already garnered millions of reactions as not only the fans but cricketers have also made sure to wish him on the special occasion. And with the veteran batsman getting flooded with congratulatory messages, his former India Under-19 teammate Shreevats Goswami decided to take an indirect dig at some cricketers.

Taking to X, Shreevats Goswami wrote: “When your wishes do not reach a person, yet you are still obsessed in wishing them . What does this obsession mean? Asking for a friend 🙈”

Virat Kohli and Shreevats Goswami were part of the Indian Under-19 team that won the Under-19 World Cup in 2008. Both of them also played together for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

When no one messaged Virat Kohli:

In the past, Kohli had revealed that he is not really on good terms with several cricketers as he said that no one except MS Dhoni messaged him when he stepped down as the Test captain. He revealed that Dhoni was his only former teammate who reached out to him while he was struggling mentally after the captaincy saga.

“When I left Test captaincy then one person messaged me was MS Dhoni. No one else even though they have my number. Neither he wants anything from me and nor I want anything from him. If there is a genuine connection, it is reflected this way.

“We were not insecure of each other. People give a lot of suggestions publicly. If I want to say something to someone, I would reach out individually. If one does want me to improve, he can talk to me one on one. But if you want to give me suggestions publicly, I do not hold value to it,” Kohli had said.

Meanwhile, Kohli has not played a competitive game since the T20I series against Afghanistan last month. He is likely to return to action next month when IPL 2024 gets underway.
