India National Cricket Team all-format captain Rohit Sharma has shared his success mantra, saying that “keeping it very very simple and not complicating things too much” is the key for him as the skipper of the side.
Rohit Sharma has been on a dominant run as the skipper of the Men In Blue since becoming full-time captain of the side last year. He has won every single series as the permanent captain of the Indian team.
Rohit Sharma’s biggest challenge as the skipper will be to lead Team India to triumph in the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 and ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. Rohit won the Asia Cup 2018 as the stand-in skipper of the team. However, he will be captaining India for the first time in an ICC tournament in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022.
Ahead of two major cricket tournaments, India National Cricket Team all-format captain Rohit talked about his success mantra as skipper.
“What I’ve done over the years with the Mumbai Indians franchise and also the time that I have led India all over the world, is keeping it very very simple and not complicating things too much. Making sure that whatever I have spoken of before about giving the guys freedom and making them understand what their role is, that is what I will be expecting of myself,” said Rohit to Star Sports.
Want to make sure that there is no confusion – Rohit Sharma
The 35-year-old said that he wants to make sure that the players in the team have clarity and that they are not confused about their roles.
“That is what I want to do for the team and for the other players and make sure that there is no confusion. That’s the last thing you want especially before you are playing a high profile tournament. So we want to make sure that all of that is taken care of and that is where my role becomes very very crucial along with Rahul Dravid. We will try and keep focus on that, the both of us. But for me it is very simple,” he added.
The Asia Cup 2022, which is the 15th edition of the tournament, is scheduled to be played from August 27 to September 11. The entire tournament is set to be held in United Arab Emirates (UAE). The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be played from October 16 to November 13 in Australia.
