Sunrisers Hyderabad's uncapped opening batter Abhishek Sharma has once again given the credit for his sensational IPL 2024 form to Yuvraj Singh.

Abhishek Sharma had a dream run in the IPL 2024 season with the bat as he played a crucial role behind the Sunrisers Hyderabad's run-in to the finals. He led from the front just like a senior player along with Aussie batter Travis Head, who too, had a wonderful season as part of the Orange Army.

Although Hyderabad will be gutted to not have claimed their 2nd IPL trophy after such a blistering IPL season but they will be forever remembered as the trendsetters. The kind of style that Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head brought forward could be just what the cricketers might adopt going forward.

What did Abhishek Sharma say about Yuvraj Singh?

While speaking to Hindustan Times in an exclusive interview, Abhishek Sharma, as usual, had high praise for the support that Yuvraj Singh showed to him. Abhishek claimed that the former all-rounder deserves all the credit and round applause for believing in him when the youngster wasn't at his best and was going through a tough time.

"Yuvi paaji deserves all the credit for believing in me when the chips were down and I was confident." - Abhishek Sharma said via Hindustan Times.

It was the former two-time white-ball World Cup winner who helped Abhishek Sharma realize his potential as well as his caliber. Yuvraj told Abhishek that he has all the makings to excel at the highest level and that the key to success is nothing but immense hard work behind the scenes towards improving his skills as well as fitness.

"He told me that I had the potential and the calibre to excel at the highest level and how important it is to keep working hard on skills and fitness," Abhishek added.

Abhishek Sharma says he took Yuvraj's words very seriously

We have often seen young cricketers fall off after a few good seasons at the highest level. Prithvi Shaw is a prime example of it. The Mumbai-born batter was Abhishek's teammate when the latter was a part of the Delhi Capitals setup but it's incredible and almost unbelievable to see how the left-hander toppled the so-called "Generational talent".

As they say, talent without hard work is a waste and Abhishek Sharma didn't want to be included in that list. He took Yuvraj Singh's advice very seriously and kept working towards bettering his batting-bowling skills as well as fitness.

He then said that he is now able to understand how a cricketer unleashes his best form after years of grind. And in order to retain the same level, Abhishek has realized that one needs to be consistent with practice and training.

"I took it very seriously and just worked on those aspects. Now I understand that a time comes for every cricketer when he unleashes his best form. And one has to keep consistency and momentum in practice and training," Abhishek Sharma concluded.
