The fourth match of the ongoing T20I Tri-Series 2025 between Pakistan and Afghanistan turned dramatic both on and off the field. Actually, Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has turned heads with his witty yet sharp response to Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan’s absence.
Pakistan walked in as favorites against Afghanistan, but they were left stunned after an 18-run defeat at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Chasing 170, the Men in Green faltered despite a late blitz from Haris Rauf, whose fiery hitting narrowed the gap but couldn’t save the game.
Faheem Ashraf’s witty response to Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan goes viral
After the match, Faheem Ashraf made the headlines with a loud yet playful response to a question about whether the Men in Green missed Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan during their unsuccessful chase against Afghanistan in Sharjah on September 2.

Faheem Ashraf said at the post-match press conference, “Dekhiye, match ke dauraan sirf match ka yaad hota hai ki match mein kitne score chahiye, aur kitne balls chahiye. Idhar baithke hume ghar waalon ki bhi yaad aati hai. Lekin match ke dauraan ghar waalon ki bhi yaad nahin aati toh aap humaare colleagues ki baat kar rahe hain. Match ke dauraan yehi sochte hain ki Pakistan ko kaise jitwaana hai.
(Look, all we think about during the match is how many runs are required or how many balls are needed. Sitting here, we remember our families. During the match, we don't even remember our families, and you are asking about our colleagues. All we think about during the match is how to make Pakistan win.”

Notably, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have been left out of both the ongoing T20I Tri-Series and the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 squad after a string of poor T20I outings. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan have not played a T20I for Pakistan since the South Africa tour in December 2024.
Well, Pakistan cricket is going through a tough phase, and the latest setback has only made things more challenging. The defeat to Afghanistan in Sharjah has hit the team hard, especially with the Asia Cup 2025 just around the corner.

Notably, Haris Rauf played a record knock of 34* off 16 balls while Faheem scalped four wicket in the T20I Tri-Series Match against Afghanistan in Sharjah.
Salman Agha reacts to Pakistan's close defeat
Pakistan captain Salman Agha said on the loss: “I think 170 was gettable, seeing the games here. I think it was a good job by the bowlers, but we lost too many wickets. We were going along well, but we lost too many wickets in the middle overs. It gets difficult after that. The Afghan spinners are good enough to grab the opportunities. It could have been a different story had we not lost those wickets.”
Pakistan will be desperate to make a strong comeback when they face UAE on September 4 in their next game in the ongoing T20I Tri-Series. They will begin their Asia Cup 2025 campaign on September 12 against Oman. Just days later, Pakistan will face India in Dubai on September 14.
