BCCI has named Saransh Jain, an off-spinner with batting qualities, for the upcoming two-match Test series against Sri Lanka. On July 28, the Board of Control for Cricket in India announced the full squad for the away Test series against Sri Lanka, with Saransh as the last name on the 15-member list.
Due to multiple injury concerns, the BCCI was forced to make a few changes in the Test team. Saransh Jain is believed to be in the team as the replacement for the spin bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar, who is yet to recover from a hamstring injury.

Saransh is a well-known face in Indian domestic cricket and has emerged as one of the most prominent off-spinners in recent years. Both with ball and bat, he was impressive for the Madhya Pradesh state cricket team across the domestic tournaments.
The year 2025 is considered one of the highlighted turning points of his career. According to a Cricinfo report published on September 15, 2025, in the duration of the last twelve months, Saransh Jain was the most successful off-spinner in first-class cricket in India with 44 wickets.
Additionally, the right-arm spinner, who is a left-handed batter, got 311 runs with the bat.
Due to those 44 wickets and 311 runs, by then he was one of just four players with the double of 300-plus runs and 40-plus wickets in the last year. In the 2025-26 Duleep Trophy semifinal, when Ruturaj Gaikwad was batting on 184, Saransh Jain, out of nowhere, delivered with extra flight.
The well-set batter took his leg wide outside the crease and fell into the trap. Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for a stumped-out on an individual 184. In the final of the tournament, the bowler with high-arm action returned with 8 wickets, 5 in the first innings and three in the second.
Saransh concluded the Duleep Trophy 2025-26 season with 16 wickets for the Central Zone. India will travel to Sri Lanka to play a couple of Tests. As Saransh has prior experience playing in the island nation only a few weeks ago, he is expected to be habituated with the away conditions quickly.
