Bangladesh can feel relieved ahead of their white-ball series against the West Indies, as injury-prone prone pace bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam have begun bowling in preparation for the three one-day internationals (ODIs) and three Twenty20 internationals (T20Is) that will obey the two-match Test series.

Due to their ailments, both of them have been ruled out of the Test series against the West Indies, but they have been included in the white-ball task.

Shoriful, who had been ruled out of the West Indies Test series after getting injured his wrist against Sri Lanka on the 4th day of the first Test in Chattogram, began hitting balls at the BCB enclosed grounds on Saturday.

“Today I begin hitting balls and bowled six overs at 65 to 70 percent frequency,” Shoriful said after finishing his first day in the nets since his injury.

“Let’s hope, in a week or so, I’ll be able to bowl at full tempo,” he said. “While Shoriful got underway his preparatory work recently, Taskin started it on June 1 and appears to be nearing completion.”

Taskin Ahmed skipped the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka and the West Indies due to a shoulder injury suffered during the South African tour.

“I’m bowling four overs one day and 8 overs the next, and I’m continuing to follow the physio’s commands to just get ready for the white-ball series,” Taskin explained. I’m not in such pain right now, and I’m hoping to get back into form well before the West Indies tour,” he said.
