Pakistan National Cricket Team player Saud Shakeel has taken a subtle dig at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after the team's ODI series loss to the New Zealand National Cricket Team. He said that if he becomes the chairman of the board, he will bring a permanent coach for three years.
Pakistan National Cricket Team are going down day by day. Things are not going right at all for the team across the formats, as they have been struggling to win big-time. After the poor outing in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, things got worse for them in the ongoing New Zealand tour.
Saud Shakeel was dropped from the Pakistan squad for the series against New Zealand
PCB, who gave opportunity to youngsters in the T20I series against New Zealand, faced a backlash for their move as they went on to lose the series by the margin of 4-1. The senior players then returned for the ODI series, but a similar kind of result unfolded for them there as well.
Saud Shakeel was dropped from the Pakistan squad for the series against New Zealand, and it came as a big surprise as he was part of the team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The batter looked in decent touch in the tournament, playing a brilliant innings against India.
Saud Shakeel was the leading run-getter for his team in that match with his knock of 64 runs. He was by far the best Pakistan batter in the match and despite that, him getting dropped didn't go well with many as PCB faced a lot of criticism for that.
First thing I will do is bring in a permanent coach for three years - Saud Shakeel on if he becomes PCB chairman
With Pakistan losing the series against New Zealand, Saud Shakeel, during an interview, was asked about the things that he would do if he became the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Replying to this, Saud Shakeel came up with a massive statement, saying that if he became the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), he would bring in a permanent coach for three years. He said:
"If I become the PCB Chairman, the first thing I will do is bring in a permanent coach for three years."

PCB has changed 16 coaches and 26 selectors of late
Pakistan Cricket Board has often come under the scanner for their constant chopping and changing in the coaching staff. The governing body, in the last few years, has changed 16 coaches and 26 selectors, which surely has hampered the confidence of the team and has resulted in poor outings.
The Board recently sacked Gary Kirsten and Jason Gillespie as their head coaches in white-ball and red-ball cricket. The duo was replaced by Aaqib Javed, who is currently the head coach. However, he, too, has been handed the interim contract, and there is no guarantee till when he will be there as a coach.
