Haven’t Won In India And England – Nathan Lyon
Speaking to cricket.com.au on Wednesday, Nathan Lyon expressed his commitment to playing cricket for as long as possible. He emphasized that he doesn’t intend to set a specific end date or wicket tally for his remaining career.
“I’m not putting a number on it. I want to play cricket for as long as I can. Haven’t won (a Test series) in India, haven’t won in England – that’s two places that I want to do, so with the injury happening a couple of months ago I feel like there’s a passion there to keep going and keep trying to get better. I’ve had the mentality to try and rehab this like no one’s rehabbed a calf injury before,” Lyon said.
The 36-year-old has delivered good performances in India, with his best figures (8/50) in Test cricket in Bengaluru in 2017. He achieved a significant milestone by becoming the first Australian player to take 100 wickets in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy during the 2023 series.
Ravichandran Ashwin Is A World-Class Bowler – Nathan Lyon
Nathan Lyon expressed admiration for Ravichandran Ashwin, stating that he has closely observed the Indian spinner’s career from the beginning and has learned valuable lessons through their numerous encounters.
“You look at Ashwin, he’s a world-class bowler and somebody I’ve watched closely from the start of his career. We’ve gone head-to-head many times in different conditions around the world.”
“I’ve got nothing but respect for Ashwin and the way he’s gone about it. There’s an opportunity to learn from the people you play against, and without knowing it, he’s probably been one of my biggest coaches in a way.”
