Gautam Gambhir has posted a cryptic message after his on-field altercation with his former India teammate S Sreesanth. The former India teammates were involved in a heated exchange during the Legends League Cricket match between India Capitals and Gujarat Giants in Surat on Wednesday (December 6).

The exchange began as early as the second over of the game when Gautam Gambhir was facing S Sreesanth. The former India opener welcomed his ex-teammate by hitting him for a six and a four. Later in the over when the pacer bowled a dot delivery, he decided to give the Capitals captain a long stare. It did not go down well with Gautam Gambhir and he reacted instantly.

Later in the game, they were involved in another altercation and had to be separated by other players and the umpire. After the end of the game, S Sreesanth slammed Gautam Gambhir for provoking him without any reason. He also stated that he is deeply hurt by what the former India batsman said.

Gautam Gambhir replies:

Gautam Gambhir has been facing heat on social media since S Sreesanth accused him of saying something unpleasant. Finally deciding to break his silence, Gambhir made his intentions clear with a post on X. While the World Cup winner did not directly address the fight, his post made his feelings very clear as he accused S Sreesanth of craving attention.

He posted a photo of himself smiling with the caption: “Smile when the world is all about attention!”

Before Gautam Gambhir’s post, S Sreesanth had said: “Just wanted to clear some air on what happened with Mr. Fighter, who always fights with all his colleagues for no reason whatsoever. He doesn’t even respect his own senior players, including Viru bhai and a lot of people. That’s exactly what happened today. Without any provocation, he just kept on calling me, something which is very rude and something which should not have been said by Mr. Gautam Gambhir.

“So, I just want to tell you all that I am not at all at fault. I just wanted to clear the air straight away. Sooner or later you’ll get to know what Gauti has done. The words which he used and the things he said on a cricket field live are not acceptable,” he added.
