Indian batter Abhishek Sharma shattered the record of the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav and set a new world record in the shortest format of the game. History was made as Abhishek crossed the 1000-run mark in no time.
Abhishek Sharma scored a half-century in the MCG T20I and then had decent starts during the two games in Hobart and Carrara. India won while chasing in the third T20I and then won the next game batting first, when their bowlers did a convincing job.
The fifth T20I in Brisbane marked another loss in the toss for the Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav. After losing the toss, Mitchell Marsh pushed the Indians to bat first, and Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill made it to the middle until rain interrupted play.
Abhishek Sharma's record for fastest 1000 runs
Abhishek made history as he surpassed the 1000-run mark in T20 internationals, claiming a world record for the fastest in terms of balls faced. He achieved the feat during the 5th T20I against Australia and shattered the previous record held by Australian batter Tim David.
David reached the 1000-run mark within 569 balls. He reached the milestone during his blistering knock of 74 off just 38 balls at the Hobart Stadium. The Indian T20I captain is the second Indian on the list, having reached the milestone off just 573 balls.
However, it is also to be noted that Abhishek Sharma was dropped twice during his innings at the Gabba. He was dropped once before reaching the 1000-run mark and was then dropped again after having surpassed the milestone.

Abhishek Sharma fails to break Virat Kohli's T20I record
Abhishek further took 28 innings of his T20 career to reach the 1000-run mark and narrowly missed Virat Kohli's former record for India. Kohli had reached the milestone in just 27 innings in his career.
However, Abhishek has played 1 match less than Virat Kohli, who played 29 matches when the 1000-run margin was to be reached.
Indian batters Sanju Samson and Tilak Varma, with 995 and 991 runs, are also nearing their 1000-run mark.
