A bizarre incident involving the 30-year-old India National Cricket Team right-arm pacer Mohammed Siraj took place during the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 on Friday, December 6.

The speed gun at the Adelaide Oval showed that the star India speedster Mohammed Siraj clocked 181.6 kmph ball, which is the fastest-ever delivery in the history of cricket.

Speed-gun blunder in IND vs AUS Adelaide Test

Mohammed Siraj was not able to get any breakthroughs for his team on Day 1 of the Adelaide Test despite bowling under lights with the pink ball.

He started off well and troubled the Australian openers with his lines, lengths, and aggression. However, Siraj failed to pick any wickets in the 10 overs he bowled.

Overall, Mohammed Siraj bowled three maiden overs and conceded 29 runs at an economy rate of 2.90.

Meanwhile, the right-arm quick surprised everyone with his pace in the 25th over. On the last ball of the over, Siraj bowled a short ball to Marnus Labuschagne down the leg side and the batter let it go. As he was returning back after bowling the delivery, the speed gun showed it was an 181.6kmph ball.

If that was real, it would've been the fastest ball in the history of cricket, as currently, the record is held by the legendary Pakistan National Cricket pacer Shoaib Akhtar, who clocked 161.3 kmph.

However, it was actually a massive technical glitch from the official broadcaster and Siraj's delivery wasn't 181.6 kmph.

In the same 25th over, Mohammed Siraj was left furious ahead of the 5th ball when Marnus Labuschagne pulled out at the last moment after being distracted by a fan holding a beer snake near the sight screen.

This made Siraj extremely furious and the pacer threw the ball towards the batter to express his frustration and also said a few sharp words.

Cheteshwar Pujara delivers his verdict on Day 1 of Adelaide Test

Speaking on Star Sports, the batting legend Cheteshwar Pujara shared his verdict on Day 1 of the pink-ball Test between India and Australia in Adelaide.

Pujara showered rich praise on the veteran Australia left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc for his sensational 6-wicket haul and advised the Indian bowlers to bowl at full length to get some success in the match. He elaborated:

"I would like to talk about Mitchell Starc's bowling; he took 6 wickets, and for the first time, he took 5 wickets against India. He bowled brilliantly and bowled the deliveries at full length.

"Meanwhile, Indian bowlers tried to bowl back-of-length deliveries. There very few deliveries were bowled in the length of 4 to 6 meters. Between 6 and 8 meters, they bowled more. So they'll have to bowl full if they want to come back in this match and will have to take wickets.

"And to take wickets, top-of-off bowling is very important. And there, the bowlers have not bowled a lot on the stump lines. So I think they need to bowl on stumps and take wickets as soon as possible."
