India's experienced allrounder Deepti Sharma has been appointed the captain of UP Warriorz for the upcoming season of Women's Premier League. She has been with the team in the first two seasons and is a key part of the squad.
Deepti Sharma has replaced Alyssa Healy as UP Warriorz captain. Healy had earlier ruled herself out of the entire WPL 2025 season due to the injury issues she has been suffering lately in the last few months.

Deepti Sharma has loads of experience playing international cricket for India. She was also a part of Warriorz in the first two seasons and played key roles in her team's victories.
Excellent WPL 2024 with both bat and ball
Deepti Sharma had a fabulous WPL 2024 when she shone with both bat and ball. The Warriorz might have missed out on a playoffs spot last season but Deepti's exceptional performance earned her the Player of the Tournament award.
She scored 295 runs in 8 matches at an exceptional average of 98.33 and a strike rate of 136.57 with the best of 88*. She emerged as the fifth-highest run-getter of the season.
The allrounder had an outstanding season with the ball as well. She picked up 10 wickets at an average of 21.70 and an economy rate of 7.23. She was the the lone shining spot for UP Warriorz in a rather disappointing season.
Her excellent performance in 2024 came after a disappointing WPL 2023 season when she scored just 90 runs in 9 matches at an average of 12.85. With the ball, she picked up 9 wickets in the inaugural edition at an average of 34.33.
UP Warriorz looking for change in fortunes
UP Warriorz have had two disappointing seasons in the WPL so far. They finished third in the inaugural edition of the tournament but lost the eliminator match to the eventual champions Mumbai Indians.
The Warriorz then finished fourth in WPL 2024 and were unble to qualify for the playoffs. Under Deepti Sharma's leadership, they will be looking for a change in fortunes now as they look for a much improved performance.
Deepti is one of the most expensive player in WPL history. She was signed by UP Warriorz for INR 2.60 crore in the WPL 2023 auction. She is the second most expensive Indian player in the tournament history after Smriti Mandhana.
Deepti Sharma's international numbers
Deepti has played 124 T20Is for India and scored 1086 runs at an average of 23.60 and a strike rate of 104.02. She has also picked up 138 wickets at an average of 19.14.
She has also played 104 ODIs in which she has scored 2154 runs and picked up 130 wickets. The 27-year-old has been one of the top performing allrounders in world cricket for quite some time now.
