The WPL is usually played in a window of nearly 28 days, as it involves 5 teams and a total of 22 matches in the competition. As a result of this, the event can be split between two venues, with the second venue usually hosting the knockout games as well.
The first half of the tournament, that is, 11 matches, will be played in Navi Mumbai's DY Patil Stadium, a ground etched into the history of Women's cricket, as India won their first-ever Women's ICC title at this venue. These 11 matches will include the two double headers of the competition.
The action then shifts to Vadodara's Kotambi Stadium, where the remaining 11 matches will be played, which includes both the Eliminator and the Final. According to the norms of WPL, the Eliminator includes a match between the No. 2 and No. 3 from the points table at the end of the group stage matches.
The winner of the Eliminator clashes with the No. 1 team in the points table, who make their way directly to the finals.
ICC Men's T20 World Cup to begin after WPL 2026
The week of WPL will be a very crucial week from the point of view of international cricket as well, as just a day after the WPL final, the Men's U-19 World Cup final will be held, and after another day, the Men's T20 World Cup will kick off.
The ICC Men's T20 World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. This is the reason that the WPL window was pushed from February-March to January-February.
