The Women's Premier League (WPL) 2027 player auction will take place in Kochi on October 28, with 146 registered players competing for 27 available slots across five franchises. Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru and the other four teams will look to address gaps in their squads ahead of the new season.

The fifth edition of the tournament is scheduled to run from January 14 to February 7, 2027. After the first mega auction ahead of the 2026 season, this mini-auction will give franchises a chance to fine-tune their squads, with budgets and remaining slots shaping their strategies.

Live Streaming and TV Broadcast Details for WPL 2027 Auction

Cricket fans in India can follow the WPL 2027 auction through television and digital platforms. Sports18 will provide the TV broadcast, while JioCinema and the JioHotstar platform are listed for live streaming.

The auction will feature all five franchises: Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and UP Warriorz. The teams will bid for players during the event to complete their squads for the upcoming season.

The auction process will begin with a full round of capped players, covering batters, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers and spinners in that order. A full round of uncapped players will follow.

Accelerated bidding could begin after Player No. 50, with franchises nominating players for subsequent rounds and submitting names of unsold players for further consideration.

WPL 2027 Auction: Purse and Team Needs

The overall team purse remains ₹15 crore, but the five franchises enter the auction with different budgets and squad requirements. UP Warriorz have the most money available, while Mumbai Indians have the least.

UP Warriorz have eight slots to fill, including five Indian and three overseas players. They released Shweta Sehrawat after she scored 46 runs in six innings at a strike rate below 100 in 2026.

Gujarat Giants have three slots available, including one for an overseas player, with ₹1.25 crore remaining. They have the second-largest purse after UP Warriorz and could use the auction to address gaps in their squad.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have five slots available, including two for overseas players, with ₹1.15 crore remaining. After releasing Grace Harris, they could reshape their top order. Delhi Capitals have five slots to fill, including one for an overseas player, and ₹1.10 crore left in their purse.

Mumbai Indians have six slots available but cannot sign any more overseas players. They released G Kamalini, who is reportedly in contention for the next Under-19 World Cup, which could clash with the tournament.

Key Players in Demand at WPL 2027 Auction

Australian all-rounders Grace Harris and Sophie Molineux could attract strong interest. Molineux missed the WPL 2025 season with a knee injury and withdrew from the 2026 edition. Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen could also draw bids. The former DC player missed the 2026 season with a shoulder injury.

India's Under-19 World Cup winners Vrinda Dinesh and Gongadi Trisha are among the uncapped players to watch. Mumbai's 15-year-old Ira Jadhav is another prospect after impressing in the city's T20 League.

Only two English players, Sophia Dunkley and Kira Chathli, have registered for the auction. Alice Capsey, Dani Gibson, Lauren Filer and Linsey Smith are among those who have stayed away, partly because salaries are lower than those available in The Hundred.

England's scheduled T20I series in Sri Lanka in early February also clashes with the tournament's final week. The scheduling conflict, combined with salary considerations, may have contributed to the limited interest among English players.
