Mitchell Starc produced a sensational spell with the new ball as Bangladesh were bowled out for just 64 in their first innings of the second Test at Mackay. The left-arm pacer finished with outstanding figures of 6/12 from 10 overs, leaving the visitors in serious trouble early in the match.
Starc struck with the very first ball of the innings, removing Shadman Islam after a leading edge was caught by Cameron Green at gully. He then dismissed Tanzid Hasan and Najmul Hossain Shanto in the same over to reduce Bangladesh to 9/3.
Mominul Haque became Starc's fourth victim at 10/4 before Litton Das fell lbw to give the pacer his fifth wicket. Starc completed his six-wicket haul by dismissing Shoriful Islam for 14, with Alex Carey taking the catch behind the stumps.
Pat Cummins also played a key role with three wickets, while Josh Hazlewood took one. Bangladesh were eventually bowled out for 64 in 34 overs, with Taijul Islam remaining unbeaten on 11.
Australia slam 210 runs as Cameron Green hits brilliant 50
Australia built a first-innings lead after scoring 210 in 52.3 overs, with Cameron Green emerging as their leading batter. Green scored 67 from 105 balls, hitting 10 fours, to anchor the Australian innings after the hosts lost wickets at regular intervals.
Steven Smith contributed 42 from 74 balls, including six fours, while Nathan Lyon remained unbeaten on 32 from 62 deliveries with four fours and a six. Travis Head also made a quick 22 from 27 balls.
Bangladesh's Shoriful Islam was the standout bowler, taking 7/48 from 15 overs. He removed Travis Head, Marnus Labuschagne and Smith before dismissing Green for 67. Taskin Ahmed, Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one wicket each. Australia's 210 gave them a lead of 146 runs over Bangladesh's first-innings total.
Australia bowl Bangladesh out for 95 to seal the win
Bangladesh's second innings lasted 38.3 overs as they were dismissed for 95. Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with 31, while Mushfiqur Rahim remained unbeaten on 29.
Mitchell Starc continued his excellent match with four wickets, while Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon claimed three wickets apiece. Cummins conceded only 10 runs from his 10 overs, while Lyon finished with 3/25.
The wickets kept falling at regular intervals, with Bangladesh slipping from 51/4 to 95 all out. Australia's bowling attack completed the job to secure an innings-and-51-run victory.
