WV Raman breaks silence after losing to Gautam Gambhir in India head coach race

Former India cricketer WV Raman reacted to the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the India National Cricket Team. The former women's team head coach congratulated the Kolkata Knight Riders mentor on his new job in the national team.
Gautam Gambhir on Tuesday (9th July) was appointed as the head coach of the India National Cricket Team. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCC) released the official statement related to the development as Rahul Dravid’s tenure ended after the T20 World Cup 2024.
It was reported that Gautam Gambhir along with WV Raman was interviewed by the BCCI's CAC committee for the post of head coach. However, it was the Kolkata Knight Riders mentor who got the nod and was selected and will be taking over the charge of the team for the next cycle.
As Gautam Gambhir was appointed as the head coach of the India National Cricket Team, WV Raman came up with a congratulatory message for his competition. Taking to his Twitter account, he stated: "Congrats @GautamGambhir and all the very best to you."

Gautam Gambhir was in the news to be the Indian head coach ever since Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL 2024. He was the mentor of the team and did a great job which impressed the Board of Control for Cricket in India and hence they approached him for the role at the India National Cricket Team.
Gautam Gambhir will be taking charge of the India National Cricket Team from the upcoming Sri Lanka tour. India will be traveling to the Island nation for the three-match ODI and the three T20I series later this month.
Gautam Gambhir hasn't coached any team and this will be his first stint as the coach of any side. He has performed the mentor role in the Indian Premier League. The former India captain was the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants for two years and also performed the same role at KKR this year.
Gautam Gambhir reportedly has been given the role till the 2027 World Cup. He will have some massive assignments on his way as India will be touring Australia for Tests and after that, there will be the ICC Champions Trophy and the ICC World Test Championship final.

BCCI President Roger Binny talked about the appointment of Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the India National Cricket Team. He said that it marks a new chapter in Indian cricket and stated that KKR the mentor is the ideal candidate to take the team forward. He said:

His experience, dedication, and vision for the game make him the ideal candidate to guide our team forward.
