WWE star Drew McIntyre became the latest celebrity to join in on the Vaibhav Sooryavanshi mania in IPL 2026. The wrestling star posted a video of himself in a Rajasthan Royals jersey on Instagram.
Sooryavanshi has been the talk of the town in the IPL this year because of his explosive batting performances. McIntyre's support comes at a time when RR's hopes of adding to their solitary IPL trophy are still alive.
McIntyre anoints Vaibhav Sooryavanshi the Chosen One
In the video, McIntyre was seen lifting weights in a Rajasthan Royals jersey with Sooryavanshi's name on the back.
The WWE star added just a two-word caption to the video "Chosen One". Ever since his debut in 2009, Drew McIntyre, whose real name is Andrew Galloway IV, has been wrestling under the moniker 'Chosen One.'
McIntyre also tagged the official account of the Rajasthan Royals team on the video.
Both RR captain Riyan Parag and the franchise itself commented on McIntyre's post.
"Omgggggg don't remember how many Future Shock DDTs I've hit on 2K," Parag wrote. The DDT is a popular WWE move adopted and improvised by many wrestlers over the years. The move doesn't have an official full form, but is named after the dangerous chemical that is now banned.
2K is a series of WWE video games for both PC and console, developed currently by Shiver Entertainment, an arm of Nintendo.
The official Rajasthan Royals account commented "Certainly" on McIntyre's post, throwing their weight behind the 15-year-old as well.
RR to face SRH in IPL Eliminator
On Wednesday, the Rajasthan Royals and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be in action against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Eliminator. RR finished fourth on the IPL 2026 points table while SRH finished third.
The loser of this clash will have their journey in IPL 2026 come to an end right here, while the winner will move on to Qualifier 2 on May 29, where the Gujarat Titans await.
Both the Eliminator and Qualifier 2 will be held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, New Chandigarh. The winner of Qualifier 2 will then face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL final in Ahmedabad on May 31.
RR's path to the Eliminator wasn't quite smooth-sailing. After winning their first four matches, the team had to contend with losing 6 of their next 8 matches. But they managed to recover to winning their last two matches and making the playoffs mostly on their own without having to depend on other results.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in IPL 2026
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was the breakout sensation of IPL 2025, but in 2026, he has essentially evolved into the best batsman in the league.
In 14 matches, he has 583 runs at an average of 41.64 and a monstrous strike rate of 232. He has also made 3 fifties and a century this year.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has also hit 53 sixes in this year's IPL, which is only 7 short of the record for the most sixes in an IPL season by a player.
