Young Indian batter Yash Dhull’s journey back to cricket is nothing short of extraordinary. Yash Dhull, who captained the 2022 ICC U19 World Cup triumph, is currently turning heads with his impressive performances for Central Delhi Kings in the ongoing Delhi Premier League 2025.
However, the 22-year-old batter had missed the first edition of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) in 2024 after doctors discovered a 17 mm hole in his heart, forcing him to undergo surgery. After the surgery, his battle was tougher than anything he had faced on the cricket field.

Post-surgery, Dhull’s body struggled to cope. For weeks, the youngster couldn’t even step out of bed. The heavy medication left him weak, his blood pressure and heart rate spiking dangerously, forcing him to repeatedly stop his recovery attempts. The comeback looked almost impossible.

But Dhull refused to surrender to his situation. With the support of his doctors and his own determination, the right-handed batter slowly began to rebuild his strength. He made a comeback with Delhi in the Ranji Trophy last October and announced his arrival with a century.
But he failed to get an IPL deal at the mega auction last year, but managed to grab his opportunity with Central Delhi Kings with both hands in the ongoing DPL 2025.

Now, Dhull sees his comeback as a second chance, focusing only on hard work and grabbing every opportunity that comes his way. Yash Dhull said in a video shared by DPL on Instagram, “When I had my check-up in Delhi, the doctors told me that there was a 17 mm hole in my heart.
The check-up was long; it was mostly half an hour. It was not that big, and I was so worried but thankful that I got to know about it. And if you get to know about it too late, then you face more problems in your life. So, I am blessed that in that situation, I was able to do everything.”
He further revealed that the doctors gave him a lot of confidence when things were tough, saying he underwent the surgery within two days after the check-up in Delhi.
Yash Dhull redefines his game with a Live-in-the-Moment approach
Now, the Delhi star is aiming to play one match at a time, live in the present, and enjoy the game he loves without fear. He noted that it is very important for him to stay in the present, as any thought about the future or the past will only impact his present.

Dhull signed off by saying, “For me, a comeback means that I have the only option to work hard. I don't have a second option; I have to perform. If I perform, I will get opportunities. So, I am aiming to play match by match and enjoy the match that I am playing. Because I have to enjoy the game. The doctor also told me that I have to enjoy my game and not worry. So, I don't worry; I enjoy my game. I am enjoying it a lot.”
