Yuvraj Singh predicts big ICC T20 World Cup 2026 finish for India with bold 'white-ball' remark

Legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh was honored as the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, which is also known as the New Chandigarh Stadium in Mullanpur, hosted its first-ever men's international game on Thursday, December 11.

The New Chandigarh Stadium turned into a festive scene as the Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Yuvraj Singh were honored with stadium stands named after them just before the second T20I between India and South Africa.

Both stars arrived with their families and teammates on the occasion. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann joined the ceremony, along with newly elected BCCI president Mithun Manhas. Yuvraj’s presence added extra excitement among the fans and the Indian cricket team.

He spent time with the Indian players and support staff, especially head coach Gautam Gambhir and bowling coach Morne Morkel, and greeted them with his usual friendly charm before the match.

Yuvraj Singh joins Team India huddle in Mullanpur

Yuvraj also joined the team huddle, shared his trademark energy, and spoke to the players with the same passion that once lifted India during some of its biggest moments.

The players were clearly thrilled to have the two-time World Cup winner around, smiling and interacting with him in Mullanpur. Meanwhile, Yuvraj shared his happiness after meeting the Indian players, saying it felt natural to guide and motivate them again.

Yuvraj Singh said in a video shared by BCCI on its social media handles, “I’m so happy to catch up with the boys and talk to them. And now that, on the other side, looking out for them is natural. I remember we always had a hurdle and always had a spark of conversation that would ignite us to go in there and perform. I really enjoyed it.”

The legendary all-rounder expressed confidence in India’s strength in white-ball cricket and made knockouts prediction for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Yuvraj said that India’s win or loss doesn’t change his heart, as he has seen both tough losses and big wins in his own career.

Yuvraj further noted, “I've been watching these guys and looking at their progress in the last couple of years. And when it comes to T20Is and ODIs, we are the best side. The T20 World Cup is coming, so I'm sure the preparations are going well, and I have no doubt that my Indian team is going to go to the last four or last two.”

He signed off by saying, “But for me, whether they win or lose, I'm always proud of them because I have been a part of a team that has lost many battles and won some big battles together as a team. And I really feel that if they stick together as a team, the results will show in the park.”

Notably, Yuvraj represented India across formats, playing 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, with his last appearance coming in 2017. Known for his fearless batting and handy left-arm spin, he played key roles in India’s historic 2007 T20 World Cup triumph and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
