Team India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has broken his silence on the cheating allegations made by his ex-wife, Dhanashree Verma, calling them baseless and exhausting. He stated that a relationship of such duration couldn’t have lasted if he had cheated early on and added that he has moved forward with his life.
On the OTT show Rise and Fall, Dhanashree alleged that Chahal cheated on her just two months into their marriage. During a conversation with fellow contestant Kubbra Sait, the choreographer revealed when she realized the marriage was failing, sparking attention and discussion on social media platforms.
Yuzvendra Chahal Responds to Dhanashree Verma’s Cheating Allegations
However, Yuzvendra Chahal denied the cheating claims made by his ex-wife. In an interview with Hindustan Times, Chahal emphasized that the relationship would not have lasted long, calling the matter “over and done.”
“I am a sportsperson, and I do not cheat. Agar koi two months mei hi cheat karta toh itna lamba relationship chalta kya? (If someone had cheated within the very first two months, would the relationship have survived this long?) For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I have moved forward with my life, and everyone else should too,” he said.
Chahal and Dhanashree first connected during the COVID-19 lockdown. The spinner enrolled in her online dance classes, and their relationship developed quickly, leading to marriage on December 22, 2020. However, the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai granted their divorce on March 20, 2025.
Some People Are Still Stuck There - Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal stated that their marriage lasted 4.5 years. He noted that some people remain stuck in the past, adding that he is unaffected by lingering speculations. The cricketer stated that this is the final time he is addressing the matter.
"Hamari shadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mei cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Mai pehle bhi bol chuka hun ki mai past se nikal chuka hun. (Our marriage lasted 4.5 years. If I had cheated in two months, who would continue? I have told it before as well that I have moved on from the past.) But some people are still stuck there," he added.
"Abhi bhi kai log uss cheez ko pakde hue hain, abhi bhi unka ghar mere naam se chal raha hai toh they can continue doing that. (People are still holding on to these things, if people's houses are running by taking my name, they can continue doing that.) I am not concerned or affected. And I have a feeling this is the last time I am addressing that chapter of my life."
Yuzvendra Chahal Last Played For Team India in August 2023

Chahal played for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in IPL 2025, where he claimed 16 wickets at an average of 26.87. He also returned to county cricket with Northamptonshire, representing them in both the 2025 County Championship and the One-Day Cup.
Off the field, his personal life drew attention following his separation from Dhanashree Verma. He was seen alongside RJ Mahvash at the Champions Trophy final in Dubai, sparking dating rumors. However, Mahvash clarified that the two are only friends.
