Zimbabwe Playing 11 vs New Zealand- 2nd Test, New Zealand Tour of Zimbabwe 2025:
Openers: Brian Bennett, Ben Curran
Zimbabwe is going through a lean patch in international cricket in recent times and has lost the Test series against South Africa, followed by a winless run in the tri-series and the loss in the first Test against New Zealand.
Having said that, the team can take confidence from the fact that they made New Zealand bat for the second time in the first Test of the ongoing series when they take the field in the second Test.
The Craig Ervine-led side would want to put on a much-improved performance, especially with the bat in the decider, as the batters failed to get going in both innings of the last game and were always playing catch-up.
The home team might stick with the same set of players that featured in the opening match of the series for the second match as well.
In such a case, Zimbabwe will open the batting with Ben Curran and Brian Bennett, both of whom have shown signs of good form in the last few matches but haven't gone on to get a big score.
The duo will look to do so in the next match, as they are familiar with the conditions that will be on offer at the start of the game.
Curran and Bennett will have to take the responsibility and get the team off to a good start for the incoming batters to capitalize, as the opening partnership has been one of the reasons for Zimbabwe's poor performance with the bat.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Nick Welch, Sean Williams, Craig Ervine (c), Sikandar Raza, Tafadzwa Tsiga (wk)
Other than the opening partnership, the form of the middle order, or the lack of it, has come to haunt the team in long-form cricket against South Africa and New Zealand.
The hosts have a good amount of experience in the middle order as compared to their top order, which includes the likes of Sean Williams, captain Craig Ervine, and Sikandar Raza.
The three above-mentioned batters will have to take responsibility and score runs for the team in the final match of the series.
The trio would expect to get good support from Nick Welch and wicketkeeper Tafadzwa Tsiga to put up a fight.
Bowlers: Newman Nyamhuri, Vincent Masekesa, Blessing Muzarabani, Tanaka Chivanga
Unlike the batting, the team's bowling has shown some spark in all three Test matches that they have played so far against South Africa and New Zealand this year.
Zimbabwe's bowlers would like to give their all for one last time and guide the team to their first-ever Test win against New Zealand in the last game of the two-match series.
The responsibility will be once again on Blessing Muzarabani, who bowled with venom in the series opener to pick up early wickets for the team.
Muzarabani will be assisted by Newman Nyamhuri, Vincent Masekesa, and Tanaka Chivanga, along with Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams.
