Zimbabwe squad for one-off Test against England announced

Zimbabwe National Cricket Team have announced their squad for the historic one-off Test against the England National Cricket Team. The two teams will clash with each other for the first time in the longest format of the game after more than two decades.
The one-off Test between the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team and the England National Cricket Team is all set to take place between the 22nd and 25th of May at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. This will be the first Test between the teams since 2003 when the two last faced on English soil.
The Zimbabwe National Cricket Team will be captained by Craig Ervine, while star all-rounder Sikandar Raza has made a return to the team, having missed the last series. He will be replacing Johnathan Campbell in the team, while Clive Madande will also be making a return from injury.
Clive Madande will be replacing Nyasha Mayavo as the backup wicketkeeper in the Zimbabwe squad for the England series. The team has also added fast bowler Newman Nyamhuri. He has replaced leg-spinner Vincent Masekesa as the team has opted extra fast bowler for English conditions. While the rest of the team is pretty similar to what they fielded against Bangladesh.

Zimbabwe Head Coach Justin Sammons talked about the squad, saying that he is expecting players to play to a standard that can compete with one of the best teams in the world. He expressed his confidence in the team and wants players to enjoy it. Speaking in an official statement, he said:
“In terms of performance, I expect us to play to a standard that can compete with one of the best teams in the world. I really want to see the guys walking out there believing that they belong, embracing and enjoying the moment.”

Zimbabwe will be play a four-day encounter against South Africa after the one-off Test against England
Zimbabwe were last seen in action in Tests during the series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team. They had a decent outing in the series as it ended in a one-all draw. They would be keen to make history and would be looking to win the game against the England National Cricket Team.
Following the one-off Test against the England National Cricket Team, Zimbabwe will be playing a four-day encounter against South Africa from 3-6 June at Arundel. This will serve as a preparation for the Proteas team ahead of the ICC World Test Championship final, which will be played against Australia at Lord’s, scheduled for 11-15 June.
